CUES refrigeration

Respond to stored food.
Reduce unnecessary cycling.

CUES (Chilled Unit Energy Saver) is a passive thermostat-probe retrofit for compatible commercial refrigeration systems.

How it works

A food-like thermal response.

CUES fits directly over an existing thermostat probe. Its food-safe wax simulant has thermal characteristics intended to resemble typical stored food. The probe responds through that material rather than immediately reacting to a brief change in cabinet air temperature.

On compatible equipment, that can mean fewer compressor starts with longer individual cycles. The device does not directly measure the food itself; independent product-temperature monitoring remains essential.

CUES is a passive probe accessory, not a refrigerant additive. Selection depends on the controller, probe, cabinet, product load, and required temperature range.

Applications

Check the refrigeration system first.

Walk-ins & cabinets

Restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, and food service operators can assess compatible walk-in coolers and refrigerated cabinets.

Standard & Compact

CUES has been described in Standard and Compact formats for different space constraints. Confirm current model availability and probe fit before specifying.

Temperature control

Review thermostat placement, setpoints, defrost behavior, loading patterns, and food temperature records with a qualified refrigeration technician.

Investment & verification

Measure the result in your cooler.

Baseline

Record energy consumption, cycling, door openings, ambient conditions, product load, and independent product-temperature measurements.

Project economics

Compare device and installation cost with measured annualized energy savings under representative operation. Include verification costs; there is no universal savings percentage or payback period.

Verify safely

Compare before/after performance under similar conditions while confirming required product temperatures. Resolve equipment or control issues before applying a retrofit.

For compatible refrigeration compressors, also consider FalkonAir VMF with Smart Compressor Control, subject to a separate equipment assessment and measured pilot.

Next step

Make the next upgrade count.

Start with a no-obligation facility assessment. We’ll review your goals, equipment, operating hours, and current routines; establish a baseline; and define a pilot with success measures before considering a wider rollout.
